No Perfect Hero Blitz

No Perfect Hero
Nicole Snow
Publication date: April 3rd 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Bossy. Heart of stone. Snarly mess next door.
Send help before I’m prick-matized…

My next big mistake has a name.
Warren Ford. Best kept secret in this weird little town.
An alpha’s alpha. Spartan abs. Too blunt for everybody’s good.
Moody, broody, mysterious, and totally up in my business.
I thought Heart’s Edge would be safe.
No two timing exes. No pink slips. No hulking, loud, inked up –
Oh. Right.
Leave it to a badass to bring the drama piping hot.
Then he goes and saves a cat who means the world to my little niece.
Making me a mushy little puddle of wishes.
Wishing I didn’t know his savage kiss like my own reflection.
Or how erasing tears must be his superpower.
Wishing I’d never poked his scary past.
Or heard him growl when he swears it’s not our future.
There’s no way this works.
He’s no white knight. I’m no princess.
I need to go. He says stay.
Even our sheet-ripping nights can’t work miracles.
Only an answer as the danger closes in.
Is Warren my perfect slice of hero?
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow – a twisted small town love story. See how far a damaged alpha goes to claim the feisty damsel in distress under his skin. Full length romance novel with a rollicking Happily Ever After.
EXCERPT:
(Haley)
The worst part is, Warren isn’t even trying to deliver these torrid, ridiculous feels.
He’s just too intense. It radiates from him in this aura, this energy field of crackling lightning.
Stand too close, and he’ll catch you up in it and consume you.
As he stares down at me, something in his expression changes. Something tense, something hot, and then I can feel it in the charge pulsing through me, starting in my lips and centering lower. I feel it in every tiny hint of space vanishing between us as he leans closer.
Only for the sound of a stomping foot to cut us off as Tara shrieks from the open back door of our duplex.
“You leave her alone!” she shouts, rocketing out, all pint-sized fury, her little fists clenched and beating ineffectively against Warren’s thigh. “Don’t you hurt my auntie!”
That’s our cue to break apart, end whatever weird, layered thing keeps almost happening but doesn’t.
Warren holds both hands up, breathing shallowly, looking down at Tara with wide blue eyes. “Whoa. Hey. Hey, now. Slow down, kitten. I wasn’t hurting nobody.”
Tara glares at him, shoulders scrunched up, her face twisted in a mask of protective ferocity. I’d hug her if I wasn’t so shaken, trembling, pressing my hands over my face and trying to calm the racing of my heart.
“Liar!” she accuses. “She’s gonna cry.”
I shake my head quickly, dropping my hands and forcing a smile. “No tears here, Tara. I’m okay. Just a little startled. Warren surprised me, that’s all.”
Warren stares between us, hands still held up like he’s facing down the cops.
“For the record, munchkin…” He licks his lips, then says, “I wasn’t gonna hurt your aunt. I was gonna kiss her.”
What?! I’m physically rocked back by his words.
He slowly lowers his arms, and darts me an uncertain glance before looking back at Tara, offering a reassuring smile. “I just wanted to hold her because I wanted to kiss her.”
Instead of slowing down, my heart nearly does a full somersault. I stare at him, my mouth dry.
He’s joking, right? Just trying to calm Tara down and explain without frightening her?
But after that charged moment where our eyes locked, Warren leaning closer…
I’m not sure of anything.
And I’m not sure what I would’ve actually done, if that domineering, stubborn jackass had kissed me.
Tara frowns, tilting her head, her scowl easing as she looks at Warren, puzzled. “You…you like Auntie Hay?”
Warren grins, easy and warm. “Yeah.”
“Like…boy-girl like?” she whispers.
“Like boy-girl like.”
“Oh,” Tara says, before her face lights up and she blushes, giggling and covering her mouth. “Ohhh. Wow.”
Nope.
Oh, God.
I have to end this.
It’s bad enough that I’m sitting here, wondering how much hot blood can flow into my cheeks before I either pass out or burst into flames.
It keeps getting better.
Now my ten-year-old niece thinks the dick next door has a crush on me. Stifling my groan, I run my fingers through my hair, glancing back at the horizon and the beautiful sunset I’m missing, when I’d wanted to at least capture the general feel of the color palette on canvas.
“Go back inside so Warren and I can talk, kit,” I say, managing a smile for Tara. “I’ll be in soon to make dinner.”
Tara bites her lip, bouncing on her heels. I just know I’m going to have to field a thousand questions over dinner about whether I like Warren and if we’re going to kiss and be boyfriend-girlfriend.
No. No way. Abso-freaking-lutely not.
Damn that munchkin for even putting the thought in my head.
But she smiles too brightly to stay mad at, tumbles over, and tackles me with a quick hug, before pulling back and, with another little giggle, darting inside.
She’s humming under her breath. It’s thirty seconds before I recognize the tune. It’s Haley and Warren, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
Meanwhile, Warren just stares, scratching at his neck like it’s the most natural thing in the world to have my kid niece thinking we’re a thing. And to have him standing here, as beast-like as ever, a storm in his eyes hinting at a conversation that might be the last thing on earth either of us need.
Somebody, please.

Ruins of Fate Blitz & Giveaway

Ruins of Fate
Jamie A. Waters
(The Omni Towers, Prequel)
Publication date: April 4th 2019
Genres: Adult, Dystopian, Fantasy, Post-Apocalyptic
One wrong decision, and the future will crumble…
Skye Levanthe traded everything she owned in order to secure a place for herself and her son, Veridian, in a scavenging camp.
But all contracts have an expiration date.
Desperate to obtain the resources they need to survive, Skye agreed to navigate the dangerous ruins of fallen cities to search for tradeable materials. When a strange storm forced Skye and her scavenging partner into forbidden territory controlled by The Omni Towers, a ruin collapsed, nearly taking their lives and destroying countless others.
Only one other person survived the ruin collapse: a mysterious young girl named Kayla.
Faced with the decision to save her son or abandon her new foster daughter to a terrible fate, Skye agreed to the only possible course of action—to go into exile and take on the Omni traders in their own den.
No one ever said survival would be easy.
And every choice has consequences.
EXCERPT:
Another gust of wind kicked up, throwing her off balance. The antenna whipped out of her hand and she fell backward, tumbling off the edge of the lookout and onto the roof. A scream ripped out of her throat. Skye scrambled, grabbing at anything to stop her rapid descent as she slid down the roof and toward the ground.
Her fingers brushed against an exposed metal beam, and she bit back a curse as the jagged edge cut through her gloves and into the meat of her hands. Grabbing it, she struggled against the pain to hold on. The roof underneath her boots gave way and fell inward. She gripped the beam tightly, trying desperately to pull herself back up.
“Skye!” Leo shouted over her headset.
Reaching out with her other hand, Skye tried to find purchase on the roof. Her feet flailed, but there was nothing beneath her. Between her angle and the slope of the roof, it was impossible to pull herself back up.
“I can’t hold on, Leo,” she managed, trying to suppress the panic rising inside her. She couldn’t die. Not like this.

As far back as I can remember, I pushed away those ugly demons looping their venom around my brain.
Trying to turn me into a man I never wanted to be.

“Do what we say or die.”

Words filled with poison, they slowly dripped in my veins, leaving me a mess of a man, and walking that thin line between right and wrong.

I never wanted to be a killer; now it’s a craving I need to survive.

The man I used to be never wanted to cause anyone an ounce of unbearable pain, because I know first-hand what it feels like.

That choking in your throat, barely able to breathe heartbreak of those who died, left behind.

The men I’m killing, they left me no choice but to walk a line chalked with retaliation.

To leave the woman I love behind.

I didn’t take a life like they claim to cause her pain. I sacrificed a lifetime with her to keep her alive.
But, after fourteen years of her living that lie, I’m crossing another line. One I was warned to never step over.

“Stay away from her, or she dies.”

A New World – Conviction Blitz

A New World – Conviction
M.D. Neu
Publication date: March 11th 2019
Genres: LGBTQ+, Science Fiction
A little blue world, the third planet from the sun. It’s home to 7 billion people with all manner of faiths, beliefs and customs, divided by bigotry and misunderstanding, who will soon be told they are not alone in the universe. Anyone watching from the outside would pass by this fractured and tumultuous world, unless they had no other choice.
Todd Landon is one of these people, living and working in a section of the world called the United States of America. His life is similar to those around him: home, family, work, friends and a husband.
After the attack on San Jose, Todd is appointed to Special Envoy for Terran Affairs by the nentraee, a position many world leaders question. Undeterred Todd wants to build bridges between both people. However, this new position brings with it a new set of problems that not only he, but his new allies Mi’ko and Mirtoff must overcome. Will the humans and nentraee learn to work together despite mistrust and threats of more attacks by a new global terrorist group, or will the terrorists win? Will this bring an end to an already shaky alliance between nentraee and humans?

EXCERPT:
In this excerpt Todd is getting ready to meet the full nentraee Speaker’s House for the first time. It is a tense moment between Todd and Vi-Narm and a moment where Todd learns that not all the nentraee may think as highly of him as Mi’ko, the vice-speaker, and Mirtoff, the speaker general do. I hope you enjoy:
Todd finished reviewing the details on the ceremony before leaving his quarters.
Ceremony. Bullshit! It’s not a ceremony but an interview in front of the full Speaker’s House. Why didn’t Vi-Narm tell me? She made it out to be no big deal.
He rushed down the hall, his cloak, the Kap’erin, billowed out behind him. Several Nentraee stopped and bowed as he passed. He turned the corner and checked his datapad for directions. His palms were damp. His heart pounded, and not from rushing.
Vi-Narm waited for him outside large ornate doors decorated with carvings of gold and silver. The surrounding light bounced off the metals, creating shimmering circles of light on the floor.
“Todd.” Vi-Narm offered a stiff bow, her cloak shifting about her shoulders.
Damn it.
He should have been more diligent, not assuming that all the reports she gave him were the only ones.
We’ll learn to work together. If I survive this.
“Hello, Vi-Narm,” Todd said as he searched for a hint of a friendly greeting, but her face was stern and her lips a straight line.
“We will go in the council chamber where the Speaker’s House will be in session.” She eyed him coolly. “Once they address us, you will present yourself and answer their questions to the best of your ability. The interview process is simple, so you should have no trouble. But, do not be fooled. This will also decide if they will accept you.”
“Wait. Accept me?” Todd tried to process while catching his breath. “What happens if they don’t approve of me? Mi’ko didn’t say anything about that.”
What happens if I can’t understand their broken English and answer the question wrong? God, I hope it’s in English.
“Then he must believe you will be fine and not want to worry you.” The slightest suggestion of a smile reached her lips.
Sweat broke out on his forehead. Vi-Narm had sent him file after file last night for review. “There was so much information to review, and some of it made no sense until I researched it further, taking more time.” He frowned. “It didn’t help that you’ve been sending me a ton of information. I haven’t been able to sort through it all.”
“It’s not my job to help you sort through what I send.” Vi-Narm’s voice was calm. Cold. “I send the document that are required for all your different tasks. It is your responsibility to organize them and go through them and be prepared.”
Todd shook his head and stared at the floor. He inhaled deeply and met her eyes. “I would’ve appreciated you pointing out the information that was important for today’s events. I could’ve focused on it.”
“Perhaps you should organize your time better, or is that a failing of your character?”
“But I—”
“It was in the report I send to you this morning,” she interrupted. “You did read it? Did you not?”
“Today? This morning? As in, while I was still in bed, or while I was getting ready for this interview?”
Or when I was on the toilet?
Trying not to sound as pissed as he felt, he checked his pocket watch. Since getting it, he kept it with him as a good-luck piece. Now, more than ever, he needed the luck.
“Vi-Narm, how could you send it this morning? I didn’t have a chance—you made it sound like this was only my welcome ceremony. That was my impression from… I didn’t have a chance to…”
She hates me. That’s why she’s doing this. She hates me and is determined for me to fail.
He saw a hint of a smile, and he was sure there was a brief twinkle in her eyes.
God, she’s a total bitch. With luck, she’ll trip and fall on her way into the chamber. That might loosen the stick up her ass.
He took a breath and held back the frown that was stalking his face. “I’ll do my best.”
She watched the chamber doors open. “Let us hope Mi’ko’s faith in you is well placed.”
The soft ticking of his watch reminded him why he was here.
I can do this.

Blame it on Romeo Blitz

Blame it on Romeo
Sophia Knightly
(Beach Read, #2)
Publication date: April 10th 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
Hi, I’m Francesca Lake, WBCG TV’s medical reporter. Privately, I am on a mission to marry a doctor. After my recent mortifying episode in the ER, it’s clear I suck at self-diagnosis. It all started when I thought I was having a heart attack. I made a cringe-worthy entrance at the hospital, but in my defense, I thought I was DYING. You can ask Harrison Taylor, my dog’s vet. He was the one who carried me into the ER.
I used to love my job reporting the social scene, but I’ve been recently drafted as the station’s medical reporter . God only knows what diseases I will have to report on. This is not a good thing for a closet hypochondriac! There’s only one upside–medical reporting means meeting lots of doctors. Surely, there will be a few eligible bachelors in the mix…
I’m trying to ignore my wild attraction to Harrison, but his forest green eyes, rugged physique and warm smile make my insides melt…not to mention other parts. My adorable dog, Romeo, is in love with Harrison, and he’s convinced Harrison is for me. But I’m looking for a “human” doctor. Harrison is an animal doctor. Do I look like an animal? Well, only on a bad hair day, but that’s beside the point.
Marrying a doctor calls for a methodical approach, and I intend to date as many as I can to meet “the one.” I have to ignore Romeo’s blatant attempts to matchmake me with Harrison. But ignoring my pounding heart when I’m around swoony Harrison is another matter entirely…
BEACH BOOK SERIES: Each book is a standalone
GRILL ME, BABY, Book 1
BLAME IT ON ROMEO, Book 2 (previously titled Paging Dr. Hot)

EXCERPT:
“HEEELP! I’m having a heart attack!” I shout.
My eyes frantically squint against the bright morning sunlight as I scour the near-empty parking lot in search of anyone who can help me. I’m about to scream again when I see my hunky neighbor, Dr. Harrison Taylor, jogging a short distance away.
“Harrison!” I wave my arms to get his attention. “Over here!”
He jogs over and is at my side in a heartbeat. “Frankie, you okay?” Harrison’s forest-green eyes give me a thorough once-over, one that would normally make my knees wobble, but not today. I am too busy panicking as my heart hammers against my chest in what feels like a heart attack.
“I can’t breathe! Can you drive me to the ER?” I squeak in a voice that sounds like I’ve inhaled helium. Electric shocks race from my shoulder down to my fingertips making me clutch my arm. Gape-mouthed, I stare at my upper left arm as it turns pink and puffy.
Harrison propels me into the passenger side of my Jetta, grabs the car keys out of my hand and tears out of the parking lot. With one hand on the steering wheel, he maneuvers the crowded streets of Miami while his other big hand pats my knee.
“Breathe slowly and try to calm your heart rate,” he says in the soothing veterinarian voice he uses to treat sick animals. Except I’m not a sick dog or horse, I am Francesca Lake, WBCG’s “Roving Social Diva” reporter and I was on my way to do an on-air interview with Justin Bieber, for God’s sake!
“What happened?” Harrison asks, casting a concerned look my way.
I point to my arm. “A tharp thting,” I try to explain, but my tongue feels thicker by the second and now I’m lisping.
“Did you say a sting?” He slants an odd look at me. “Never mind. Don’t talk.”
It’s getting harder and harder to breathe and my throat feels tight. I need air in my lungs or I’m not going to make it!
I grab Harrison’s arm. “Harrithon, pleath. Gimme mouth-to-mouth,” I beg.
Harrison’s foot hits the accelerator and within minutes, we arrive at Doctor’s Hospital where he picks me up and runs into the emergency room as if his pants are on fire.
“Help, I’m haffing a heart attack!” I shriek, flailing my arms at the attendant.
“Patient is in anaphylactic shock,” Harrison says in a steady voice.
A young, harried doctor runs up and gives me a quick examination. When I hear him bark out an order for an Epi, I start to panic. Did he order an epidureal? Are they going to operate? I turn to Harrison with beseeching eyes. Before I can say anything, a no-nonsense, matronly nurse materializes before me. I squirm as Harrison holds me securely against his rock-solid chest.
“Hold still. It’s gonna be okay,” Harrison says.
The nurse lifts the skirt of my coral dress and plunges a needle in my upper thigh.
“Yeouch. That hurths.” I shudder as the liquid burns inside my flesh.
Harrison gently sets me down on the gurney brought in by a young male attendant. “You’ll feel better soon. Relax and let the epinephrine do its work.”
Relax? I wish it were that easy. I hate to admit it, but I am a chicken. I wasn’t always a chicken—my motto most of my thirty years was “fear is not an option” and I rarely worried about anything. But after my mom’s recent near-fatal heart attack, I’ve been worrying—a lot—about health issues and a few other things. Every time I remember that Mom might have died if Dad hadn’t been there to call 911, my heart clenches. After hearing what she went through, I pray she’ll never, ever, have another one.
“Why aren’t they giving me an EKG or a heart monitor?” I ask. Oh good, at least I’m not lisping anymore. The shot must have kicked in. I stare into Harrison’s eyes. “I know you don’t think I had a heart attack, but what if it was? Five percent of heart attacks occur in people under forty.”
“So?” Harrison regards me with a bemused expression.
I let out an exasperated breath. “I could be one of that five percent.”
“You didn’t have a heart attack, Frankie.” He rakes a hand through his thick chestnut hair, leaving it appealingly tousled. “You had an anaphylactic reaction caused by an insect bite.”
“Anaphylactic reaction? That sounds ominous. Are you sure?” He could be mistaken. Harrison isn’t a medical doctor—he’s a veterinarian.
Harrison fixes me with a firm look. “Yes, I’m sure.”
* * *
Harrison helps me off the gurney and the feel of his large hand wrapped around mine makes me glance at him. Did he feel the spark between us? I’m tingly all over. God, he’s easy on the eyes with a tall, hard-muscled body that’s sizzling hot and a rugged face with the sexy cleft in the chin. I force my gaze away from his striking green eyes that are watching me with a bemused expression.
Even though Chloe has been trying to matchmake us since I moved down from New York to Miami, I’ve kindly told her I’m not interested. Why? I ask myself as I take in his male beauty, and then I mentally slap myself. Snap out of it! Harrison is a reckless daredevil who loves doing crazy ass stunts. With a boyfriend—or husband—like that, I’d spend too much time worrying about his safety. The last thing I need is more anxiety.
Harrison takes my elbow and leads me down the hall. The feel of his calloused fingertips is pleasantly distracting until we pass a scene that makes me stop and stare. A good-looking young doctor in scrubs checks a female patient’s IV and then leans over and kisses her. Pale-faced, the petite patient looks frightened until the doctor’s lips touch hers and she visibly relaxes. I am riveted and can’t stop staring at them.
“Come on, Frankie,” Harrison urges. “I thought you were anxious to leave.”
I watch the couple from over my shoulder as Harrison tugs me along. The doctor gives the woman another tender kiss and then steps into the hall. I hear him say to another physician, “Take good care of my wife. She gets nervous in hospitals.”
Light bulb flash. Why didn’t I consider this before, I wonder as a life-altering epiphany slaps me upside the head. I need to marry a doctor ASAP.
Until now, I loved my job reporting on South Florida’s fine arts and social scene. I kept busy, too busy to even think about being single at thirty. Okay, I did think about it sometimes, but it wasn’t always on my mind. I had other important things to do, like help my mom get her heart disease under control. With all the changes that occurred last year, I wasn’t exactly good company in a relationship. I found that out when my ex-boyfriend, Todd, dumped me because I was being too moody, which translated to my lack of desire because I was worried about Mom. Good thing I found out he wasn’t the “I’ll love you through thick and thin” type of boyfriend.
After witnessing that scene between the good-looking young doc and his wife/patient, all I can think of is I want to marry a doctor like him who can assuage my medical fears. Marry a doctor. I love the sound of that—it equals no more worrying, which equals getting back to my once carefree self. Most doctors are in their profession to heal and that makes them natural nurturers. I could use some of that nurturing—it sure would be great to feel normal again.
Harrison’s hand settles on the base of my spine as he gives me a gentle nudge. “Let’s go, hon.”
His bold touch sends my thoughts skittering in a different direction. A warm glow suffuses me, and I can’t budge. Did he just call me “hon”? In Harrison’s deep voice, it sounds delicious.
I touch his forearm and gaze into his forest-green eyes. “Uh…Harrison. Thanks for saving my life.”
“You’re welcome.” Harrison gives me a smile so hot it could melt the whole North Pole. I tell myself that he might have a killer grin, but we don’t have anything in common that I know of, except for a love of animals. He craves extreme sports and I can barely hit a ball with a tennis racket. He gets an adrenaline fix from playing with assassin sharks and I have to watch out for bees.
It’s a real shame he won’t do, I think, looking away from those amazing green eyes. After today’s scare, I’m turning my efforts toward my new goal.

What was I thinking? I can’t do this. Yet, here I am, pacing the corridor, waiting on my final audition into Rising Star. The newest singing competition. My best friend, Zuela, is waiting for me to be called to the stage. I can hear clapping and talking from where I’m at, but not much more at the moment. I can’t tell you what anyone is saying but it sounds like there’s a lot of people out there. Zu and I decided on a sea-foam green maxi chiffon dress matched with a pair of my favorite cowboy boots. It’s cut up to the thigh with a low-cut v into the neck, and I’m really starting to think I picked out the wrong outfit. I should have just gone with the jeans. Then we fall to the questions. What if I mess up? What if I forget the lyrics? What if I miss a note on the piano? These are just some of the questions that have filtered through my head throughout this process.
“Miss, you can take the stage.” A guy says handing me a mic.
I take the mic with shaky hands. “Th-Thank you.”
With a nod, he’s gone and I’m walking through a door that could possibly change my life forever. Did I pick the right song? Jesus what if they don’t like the song? What if someone else has already done it?
“Shut up Cassi! It’s time to pull on your big girl panties and show this world what it’s been missing.” I say my new little mantra to myself once more, before taking a deep breath and walking up on stage where the piano awaits me. There’s a sheet-like thing between me and everyone else in the room.
I fix the mic, so it’s stationed before I face the piano and situate my fingers on the keys. I play the first notes of New York State of Mind by Billy Joel. The world seems to melt away and I’m all alone doing what I love.
I don’t come back to reality till I’m shutting the lid on the piano and taking a deep breath. This also happens at the same time as the cheering and clapping start. Looking around I see people everywhere. I can’t even guess how many people are in here. I grab the mic from the stand and take my place before the four people that can change my life forever.
From right to left we have… Arthur Crow, he’s the front man for United Underground. It’s a UK rock phenomenon. Next to him is MC Rolland and he works specifically in Rap and R&B. Beside him is the only female judge, Kay Hernandez she sings what the world considers Bubblegum Pop but dresses as a Cyber Punk Goth. It’s really weird but she’s got quite the following. Last but most certainly not least is Kyle Jagger he’s part of the southern rock sensation known as Fallen Angels. Three of them are writing notes while the one I’m most nervous about is looking me up and down.
“Well, if you all ain’t gonna speak,” Kyle says uncrossing his legs from the top of the table, sitting forward. “You most certainly don’t look like a Ringo, but you play like one and I respect that.”
He refers to his bandmate, Ringo Thomas. Their keyboardist and right now, the man of the hour. “T-thank you, I don’t think I’m anywhere near his caliber, but I’ll take the compliment.”
Arthur Crow speaks but only to say. “Billy Joel would be proud.”
“Thank you, he’s an amazing artist.”
MC Rolland finally looks up from his tablet. “Now how does such a big voice come out of such a little girl? Come down here and let us see you.”
I walk so I’m closer to the judges. “Pretty sure Ma would say it’s from growing up singing in the church choir. You have to stay on your toes with those ladies.”
“I don’t know about you guys, but I want to see what else she can sing. Whatcha got in you, honey? Just something off the top of your head.” Kay instructs.
I take a deep breath and say my mantra in my head once before starting the opening to Tough Lover from the movie Burlesque done by none other than Christina Aguilera. I connect my eyes with each of the judges at least once before the song is over.
Kyle starts laughing and clapping. “You know I’ve met her, sweet little thing.”
“I can’t say that I’ve ever actually met her. I’ve waited on her once but never actually got to meet her.”
“So, you wait tables, well I hope you can get some time off because I think I can speak for the rest of us here when I say welcome aboard miss…?” Arthur raises a brow at me...
“Cassiopeia Eleanor.”
Kay sits back. “Well isn’t that a mouth full?”
“That’s what she said.” Comes from Kyle.
“Thank you all so much.”
I shake each judges hand before walking away. Holy Shit! I made it. I can’t believe I’m actually going. Yes, I’ve got to battle against a hundred or so others to make it through but at least I get that chance.
It doesn’t take me long to find Zu and my stuff. I wrap myself around her. “I can’t believe I did it!”
“Careful honey or I’m going to start to think you like me a little too much.” She kisses me on the forehead.

“I just got eye-fucked by Kyle Jagger and I liked it.”

Ugh! I wish they would set us up with our rooms already. Sitting here with the competition is not my idea of a good time. I sang I played, and then they thought they'd stumped me by making me sing again. Little did they know acapella is sort of my thing. I broke out with Outside from Staind and watched as their mouths dropped.
Kay, the only female of the judges seems to like my style as she complimented me on my glow-in-the-dark tongue ring. Of course, I complimented her on her hair fall.
I'm sitting in the Green room with earbuds in, listening to a few mixes I put together, trying to decide just what I'm going to do to set myself out from the rest of the sheeple. I don't care about the rest of these fools, I just want to make it to the next round and the round after that. I feel the couch depress next to me and have to look up, sure enough, one of these bozos wants to talk.
Pulling out my bud I raise an eyebrow, “Can I help you?” I asked as kindly as I could, smile screwed on tight.
“Man, that was some righteous singing. The way you belted that one-and then they made you do another.”
He's talking as if I wasn't there, I just shrug my shoulders as he extends his hand.
“Christian Rush and they said you're Jackson?”
“It's JT actually, they just want to call me Jackson.”
“JT? Like Timberlake, right? I get it.” Christian laughs punching me lightly in the shoulder.
I look at my shoulder, then at him and his chuckle fades. “So, what you working on man? You write your own stuff? I saw you playing the piano now you got this guitar, anything you can't do?”
Can't get idiots to leave me alone. I think if I don't say it. I'm not looking to make friends but I'm also not looking to make enemies, I have seen these kinds of shows. They're always looking for the drama I am not a llama.
I cast a cursory glance around the room, not much to tell 80 people all schools of musical talent some rock, some rap, some R&B, a lot of Pop, they look the parts. Me? I'm just your Average Joe. Six foot one, two hundred pounds, dark hair, just past my shoulders, a couple of tattoos, and some piercings. Couldn't pick me out of a crowd until I open my mouth. My parents always said God had a plan for me, I thought that meant I should walk in his steps but as it turns out my gift was music not to live piously.
I'm sure there are plenty of people here to party with- not really my scene. Christian’s still going on and on I'm just smiling and nodding.
“Oh, that's great- so you’ll come? I could use the wingman!”
I turn my head. Wait- what? What have I just committed myself to? Christian stands up pushing my laptop closed, he doesn't see the look of rage that crosses my eyes, as he hands it to me.
The Babadook is one hell of a club, they should give us our rooms and then we'll be on our own. About 8:30. I'll meet you in the hotel lobby. Guess I was going to become part of the party scene.
Eight twenty-five and I'm in the hotel lobby, they gave us our rooms and of course our roommates. I'm just going to call mine Shrek. He's big, he’s Scottish and saltier than the Pacific Ocean. Something tells me I'm not going to be spending a lot of time in that room.
Here comes Christian, a girl on each arm and two of them behind, I don't know how he does it, being the short fat kid from class, but these ladies seem to love him.

For Her

Written By Jackson Chase
Some time ago, I met a girl and she upturned my world.
Brought meaning to my life, took my strife and gave me love.
Unconditional, and it’s for her I live.
For her my all I give.
She who wasn’t here before me, who I couldn’t see, sees me.
Now she’s all that remains of other days,
From love so strong, with her  I belong.
She loves me.
Unconditional, and it’s for her I live.
For her my all I give.
She who wasn’t here before me, who I couldn’t see, sees me.
For her I’ll catch the moon, steal fire and brave the darkest lagoons.
Silver, gold, jewels whatever my baby wants, it’s her rules. And I love her.
Unconditional, and it’s for her I live.
For her my all I give.
She who wasn’t here before me, who I couldn’t see, sees me.
Unconditional, and it’s for her I live.
For her my all I give.
She who wasn’t here before me, who I couldn’t see, sees me.

And she loves me, and that’s the greatest gift of all.

Author Bio:
Jennifer Woodhull is based in the Southern United States, spending time in her second home of England, and traveling as often as she can. Her love of travel permeates her work, and her characters often find themselves exploring new and foreign surroundings.
A keen observer of human behavior, Jennifer often draws inspiration from something as simple as a fleeting connection, or the glimpse of a unique trait or characteristic. Her favorite place to write is on airplanes.
"The drone of the engine, the scores of people, all traveling to something or from something, and being disconnected from digital distractions are a combination that provide the perfect place to write," she says. "If you see a woman in seat 9F who is balancing her Macbook on her lap because it's time to close your tray table, please have patience. I'm just trying to finish one more sentence."
